Applying early, love this school but am worried I will not feel the love back.
Would love your comments, honest and blunt ok! Thanks.

Do you have a shot? Yes (and the legacy should be an ever-so-slight boost). But, I’m not getting any sense of what differentiates you from the rest of the applicant pool.

Legacy too far back to help. Grades ok, scores good. Are you a star at Debate?

With your environmental experience, prolly more likely to be accepted at Midd. I can’t chance you above the rest of the ED non-athlete pool, which is about 20%

Thanks for your reply. I am planning on majoring in environmental policy and knew this is what I wanted to do since I was four. I have looked at Cornell too(sister goes there) but I love Williams. I want to live in Hopkins Forest! Never looked at Midd, but my oldest sister went to Emma Willard and many of her snotty prep school friends went there and it biased me against Midd. I know I am a long shot at Williams and have been told I am wasting my ED there but it is what I want. I have over 9 years of volunteering at NYS enviromental education and a fellowship there and excellent recs but I know not much of a chance at Williams

Well, snubba, my boys are public school grads at Midd. They are really happy there.
“Even people I don’t want to be friends with are nice” to quote one of them. And there are plenty of snobby preppy girls at Williams as well…
You have a chance-I wish you luck and let the passion shine thru in those essays. Think of Midd, Bates and HWS if you get rejected or deferred.

Thank you for your reply. You know it was my sister and her snotty friends that gave me the nickname “Snubba”. I will probably look at Midd, saw Bates and never thought of HWS.The best news I think I’ll hear from Williams is deffered.

Those are small LACs with strong green/environmental studies departments. I think you’d be in at Bates and HWS would be a safety-you would likely get merit aid there.

Thanks again OldbatiseDoc, you have been much more helpful than my ever-so-chipper guidance counselor.

If your essay is good, yes! Be sure that you talk about things you are passionate about and write an awesome supplement! Don’t be too confined by the prompt though, take it where you want to go and tell them what you think is important to know about you and who you are and what you want. Good luck!
