Im in high school and Ive indulged myself in few internships which connect to my desired major. How does that effect my application.
Positively, of course. Better than doing nothing at all.
Especially if it connects to your planned major.
Yes it does really help, but they are hard to find…
durr… does winning a scholarship help pay for college?
What if you did an internship, but you ended up not liking it, and switched to another internship? Like from business to the medical field to wildlife biology, etc.?
I’d like to excuse myself by saying that I’m a high school student and I don’t know what I want to do when I get older, so I’m experimenting with different career choices, but will colleges think I’m just bouncing around?
^ if you arent solid on a major, it looks good that you’re eager to explore different options. The more diverse your resume, the better.
I thin kit shows that you have an interest in the field that you would like to be in. Colleges like to see that kind of stuff. Also, it’s really good for you because then you can really see if the field that you want to work in after college is right for you.
I think it’s great no matter what the admissions officers think (it’s definitely not bad) because that’s one of the best ways to find what you’re interested in.
I think the best way to utilize an internship is to actually do something positive in whatever company/organization that gave you the chance. Don’t just do your job but go above and beyond to create good meaningful change. That’s what will really impress colleges (and future employers).
