Does it bother anyone else that theres no accent over the "e" in cafe?

Or it could just be me. Yeah, it's probably just me.

Yeah, I wanna beat people who are too lazy to use an accent.

Caf

It used to bother me, but I've gotten over it.

Yes, it bothers me a little -- but there are so many computers and systems that do not allow an accent that I assumed it was not an intentional oversight.

On the other hand, what really bothers me is seeing supposedly educated people writing "alot" instead of "a lot" or "alright" instead of "all right". Even worse is hearing people respond "good" instead of "well" when asked "How are you doing?"

But then again that is alot to think about and I am good with mistakes, alright?

I would, but I don't have any idea how to type an accented E. And even if I knew, I might still be too lazy to do it. I imagine its that way for many people.

yay, its good to know im not the only grammar whore in these parts of the woods

and before somebody makes a comment that i didn't use any punctuation or capitilization in that last post, i'll do it myself!

im a grammar whore too but online i seem to um... get lazy.

you didnt do GOOD you did WELL!!

no, and it would have never bothered me if you hadn't brought it up.

"no, and it would have never bothered me if you hadn't brought it up."

Now that someone brought it up, it still doesn't bother me. America stole democracy from Europe, the cotton machine from England, and the Panama Canal from Columbia. I don't see why leaving some accent marks off will hurt our reputation.

I haven't lost any sleep over this, as a matter of fact, I didn't realize it until you pointed it out. Who cares?

didn't notice it. my mom's an english teacher- it should bother me... but it doesn't.

bother it me yes

i never even noticed. I'm too lazy to type accents and I suppose everyone else is too. I mean it's not like a-z or 0-9 where you should be able to type it. I hate using nums lock, and then having to key it in. hey, it's the american way.

I'd like to think that there's just a different kind of accent in e-cafe's and e-discussion forums - what I'd like to call an "e-accent." The words you choose, how u spell your words, acronyms you use, Grammer, spaces and special characters you use, emoticons, etc. etc. all make up your e-accent (or eccent?). :)

You could sometimes even almost imagine how a person would talk/speak just by the way they write. Not everything in your spoken accent or way of speaking is lost in writing.
