does it cost to loft beds?

if so, how much?

$0 .

It costs nothing, but make sure you put in your maintainence request early because they run out of the supplies quickly. I would say by the second week, you should stil be golden. I know someone who got her beds bunked even after fall break.

I’ve never lived in dorms so this question will sound completely ■■■■■■■■… what do you mean by “to loft beds”? Add extra mattresses?

lofting a bed is putting the bed on bunk bed risers so that you have room under for either a desk, minifridge or a futon even…

There are two forms of lofting:

 1. They actually take the bed frame and make it higher by placing little plastic risers under the legs
 2. They raise the mattress to the highest rungs on the bed frame

I am trying to figure out how to send you a picture of a typical freshman dorm room - single version ( also have double version but on a different computer!!)

The beds have a headboard/footboard that can be made into bunks,or have the mattress set up high so a desk fits under it - or at several other levels - so you can store stuff under it but not so high as a desk…very flexible

Lofting a bed sounds like a cool idea, since it would be more room to put stuff in my single room, like a TV.
Should I request for one? Or is it better to have a bed near the floor?

Depends on your preferences. It does provide you more floor space, but it requires you to climb the side of the bed to get in.

Which would you prefer?

keeping the bed the way it is will make it more practical for certain intimate sessions…

lol

hey memphismom could i get the picture too? im an incoming freshman with a single. thanks!

tell me how to get it to you - I can “send to” a email address - don’t know how to put it on here -

you can also get the layout of your room by searching the Cornell website - chekc on Housing - sorry - its been a while!!

is there a way to loft your bed a little bit so you have a little extra room maybe to fit more storage boxes and a minifridge, but still low enough so you dont need a ladder or anything?

you could always upload the picture to imageshack and post the link here?

its a jpeg - I tried copying and pasting but that did not work…

go to ■■■■■■■.com, upload the pic, and copy/paste the link

^yeah, thats what i meant

i had my bed “illegally” lofted - on dressers, night stands, etc. and it never really hindered any of my, er, relations… it actually gives you more space, especially if you put pillows/couch under there ;)

How often do they do inspections? Do you just unloft the bed before that?
