Does it help to have a Laptop for college?

Im going to Umich this fall and I was wondering if I shud go with a laptop or a desktop?

I can use $300-400 to build a really good desktop or go with a laptop which has less power. I'm a gamer and I'm torn between deciding which one to use.....

Or should I do both, like keep a desktop for all the power I need and a weaker laptop for portability?

And btw, im starting to think playing video games would sound ridiculous considering how intensive the classes at Umich would be..

i feel like having a laptop is crucial in college. the strong desktop + a weak laptop mixture sounds pretty solid. i’d suggest getting a cheap netbook but those can tend to have small keyboards making typing difficult if you have large hands. i’m sure you can find a cheap one that you can use to keep notes on, although i would find it handy to have a built in mic that you can use to record lectures with.

There is a place in Ann Arbor where you could get a decent used laptop for under $400.00. Affordable Computers.
