Does it help to take summer classes in the school you want to transfer to?

I would suggest summer classes only if you need them.

Reasons you should take them:
- Poor College GPA: take summer classes to strengthen your college stats
- Poor High School GPA: I took summer classes after my freshman year because my HS GPA was weak. So by taking summer classes I had another full semester of college coursework when applying for transfer. I did well over the summer and I would say it greatly improved my application.
- Trouble with Transfer Credits: Schools are very specific about course credit and transfer credit and the classes you take. If your in a situation where perhaps your not taking all the general education classes most schools do, then take summer classes. If your worried about your credits not transferring, then take summer classes.

My suggestion honestly, is that if you can, then take them. I found my summer courses and teachers to be alot more laid back. I think as far as a transfer application it makes you look like a more passionate student when you took summer classes even though you might not have needed to. Its up to you. You can spend your summer anyway. But if your determined about this transfer thing and you want to put yourself in the best situation you can. Then go ahead and do it. It will only help you…(unless you flunk them…but if you do well then it will definitely be a plus.

With that said, I took 18 credits at my local community college the summer after my freshman year. I did this to increase my college coursework and general education courses due to my previous institutes unique course structure and my poor high school gpa. I think it made a huge difference in my application for the better. Good Luck

thanks thats what I was looking for. I fit in your 2nd option. Thanks alot and merry christmas ;)
