My dad works at Harvard and he’s like the director of something. Does that help my chances??
It doesn’t hurt.
But I can’t imagine it would help someone who wouldn’t otherwise be qualified, especially in light of the recent scandals. I would imagine that all admissions will have to be incredibly transparent moving forward.
as long as you qualify just as anybody else.
Actually, yes, this is one of the elusive “hooks”. In the Harvard lawsuit, this was the “C” in the “ALDC” applicants (children of faculty and staff), and were admitted at a 40%+ rate. However your application would still need to be in the ballpark with respect to academics, test scores and ECs of other admitted students.
