I recently took the SAT Spanish test and Spanish happens to be my native language. However, I have taken three years of French in high school and will be taking AP French next year. I took a practice French test and only score about a ~450 therefore I don’t feel I am prepared until I take AP French. Will it look bad if I choose to submit my SAT Spanish Score to colleges next year?
If the college requests 2 Subject Tests and you submit Spanish as one of your 2, yes, it will look bad. If Spanish is one of more than 2 that you are submitting, it’s fine. Several college websites concur. For example, Brown and
Columbia.
It probably won’t hurt to submit your Spanish score but colleges will be more impressed with a language score which you studied for. Even if you don’t use your Spanish score for admissions, it may be useful for things like placement/opting out of language requirement once you get to college.
