does it look bad if second ACT score is lower than first?

So, I took the ACT last June and again this September. I scored pretty high the first time, but took the test again in September to raise my science score. However, that did not happen and I scored worse overall on the second test (about 5 composite points lower). I was wondering for the colleges that require you to send all scores, if that leaves a bad impression?

Some of the ones I'm worried about are UPenn, Cornell, and Georgetown (all of which require you send all your scores). I called the Georgetown admissions office and they said that they consider your highest scores only. But will that leave a negative impression on my application?

And also, is there any way that a college knows if you only send them one of your test date scores?

The same thing happened for me just today, but for SATs
I got 1910 in my 2nd SAT while I had 2050 the 1st time…
Ruined my day

I don’t think it looks bad unless it is a drastic drop, but there is really no point in retaking if you cannot make progress/ At that point, it just becomes a waste of money. Retake the test if you are SURE you will do better in my opinion.

Make sure you raise your score on the next ACT…that way colleges still see improvement
