So I want to take AP Chemistry next year, and in order to do that I need to have either an honors or regular chemistry background. The only summer school option available to me is a regular, on-level chem course. Would it look bad to colleges if I took this class over the summer because it's not honors? Is it better if I just do honors chem during the regular school year next year and take AP chem senior year?
Thanks for reading

What grade will you be taking AP Chemistry?

For a Sophomore or below, it won’t matter if you take Chemistry or Chemistry Honors. If higher than a Junior, it will matter.

@elefish92 Right now I’m a sophomore, so I will (hopefully) be taking AP Chem as a junior. I will teach myself all the honors-chem components that are not taught in regular over the summer as well if I do take the summer course so I don’t think I’ll be disadvantaged in ap, but I just don’t want it to look bad on my transcript :/

Yes, that is very good. It won’t look bad if you’re do not tend to decrease your performance, you’re going to need to strive for the better. Ex. If you get a C in regular Chemistry and then an A in AP Chemistry, you’ll easily redeem yourself in that subject. If vice versa that is not good…a passing rate of the AP Exam may redeem yourself too.
