Does it look good to have a good TOEFL score?

I'm a Singaporean citizen, and English is my first language, but I'm curious as to whether or not I should try taking the TOEFL. Does it look good if you take it and get a great score? Or will it look better if I don't bother, as I got a 700 on my Critical Reading PSAT this year without studying?

“English is my first language”

If English is your first language and your education has been entirely (or at least primarily) in English and you have a 70 on this year’s PSAT it would be a stupid waste of your time, trouble, and money to take the TOEFL. The only reason for you to take it would be if you find yourself applying to one or more specific colleges/universities that for some odd reason absolutely require that you submit a TOEFL score.

I thought colleges require you to submit it not if you are international, but rather if you are not native speaker. Which is not your case.

taking the TOEFL would be a better option as most colleges prefer non native speakers to do so … though it may not be mandatory for you

All right, thanks for your opinions! :)

I agree that it’s probably going to be a waste of time and money, but I was worried that (as Alone said) certain colleges might insist on my taking it.

If you’ve been studying in Singapore all this while, since secondary school, you don’t need to take TOEFL.

List out the specific universities, so I can give 100% confirmation that TOEFL does not need to be taken.
