Does it make a difference whether you apply by Nov 30th or no?

UC refers to Nov 30 as the Priority Deadline, and Jan 3rd as the extension deadline, and they said that acceptance rates are higher for those who apply by the priority deadline. Does this mean greater priority is given to those who apply by Nov 30 or just that those who apply by then happen to be better applicants. I was ready to apply by Nov 30, but once I saw that the deadline was extended, I waited so that I could improve my essays more, but now I’m kinda worried it lowered my chances.

“Although the deadline is extended, some major programs may fill up at some campuses during the priority application period.”

Maybe transfer students that applied during the regular deadline are reviewed first? I think it matters more if you applied for an impacted major though.

I applied to Computer Science at UCLA and UCB, and it seems be one of the most impacted majors. Does this mean my chances are lowered?

It has to do with earlier applicants processed and admitted.

That pertains to UCs with TAG, not Cal or UCLA.

@briank82 thanks for the info!
