Does it make sense to send CSS

We did fill out the FAFSA form and out EFC is high but the reason we filled it out was that CC posters suggested that if we did not fill it out we could not get the Stafford Unsub loan or come back later.

I don't reasonably expect any need based aid from one school who are known to use loans a lot. They called me up and told me that they do not have the CSS and when I asked them questions as if it makes sense to fill that up based on the EFC, the answer was "we have to see the CSS before we can tell if you are eligible for any FA".

Does it make sense to send the CSS if I think it is not going to be very useful.

No one HAS to complete a Profile if they plan to pay the full bill. BUT if you want the school to review possible financial aid, and it’s required…you have to do it. It will not affect the Stafford loan which is awarded based on the FAFSA completion (at least I believe that is true). However, why not do it and let the school determine if they want to award you aid. Maybe you’ll be surprised.

Ask to speak to one of the leads in the office. I was told the same thing for DD2’s school (and didn’t get any FA except the authorization for an unsub Stafford - I knew we wouldn’t get any). When we got to the school to move DD2 in, the person in charge of FA said we didn’t have to fill out the Profile after all but most people manning the phones only know information that covers the majority of people calling.
