Does it matter how close you apply to the deadline?

like if the deadline is nov. 1--- does it look better if a person sends in their app on sept. 30 or two days before the deadline.
do the admission officers notice?
when do they actually start looking at the apps?

Keep in mind that if you send your app two days before the deadline, it might not arrive on time. I don’t know whether or not certain colleges would take it, but I don’t think it’s worth the risk.

it was just an example.
does when the app is sent make a difference—both apps are received in time before nov. 1…but one was done early in sept. …the other late october…is preference given to the earlier app? (i am not expressing myself correctly -_-)

It probably doesn’t make a difference unless the school does rolling admissions.

Technically it doesn’t matter, but one admissions officer from I think Harvard said that they read them in the order that they got them and that the first hundred essays are more enjoyable than the last hundred, so you can take that for what it’s worth
