My son opted out because he remembered the nightmarish deluge of mail that came to his older sister after she opted in. Really, 99% of it was a total waste of paper and it really stressed her out.

Your D will still be notified of her status as a NMSF (her score is high enough to get her in even in the states with the highest cutoffs) in the fall of her senior year, and she can choose the schools she wants to receive information from.

No college is going to remember who checked the box and who didn’t; she will be evaluated on the basis of her application alone. You can relax.

Corinthian not everyone hates junk mail and spam. For some it can provide some ideas and contacts.

If you still want some after reading all these posts you can create logins to ■■■■■■■■■■ or collegeweeklive.com. You can also go to specific college websites and ask to get on their lists. In addition to the aforementioned paper they will also send reminders about application and scholarship dates. Congrats on your D’s score.

We had a trunk for college mail. The intention was to due a camping bonfire with it after hs graduation, but alas it didn’t happen.

A few years after ds went to college I decided it was time to empty out the trunk. Darn - found two old birthday cards (with checks) hidden amongst the junk.

I graduated from COLLEGE last year and still get mail recruiting high school seniors.

Be grateful. They’re just marketing ploys- it doesn’t indicate their interest in the student.
