Does it matter what major you put on your app?

They say they dont look at the major you put on your application...then why do they ask for it?

would it be good or risky to put something that interests me (classics: greek) but dont have any background in (ex: clubs, etc)?

If I didnt put greek, I would put sociology, a widely chosen major...

btw- im not applying for engineering school or anything, and the particular UC's im wondering about are UCLA and UCB...

do u think they take a look at it and consider it when reviewing applications?

No, your intended major does not at all figure into your chances of admission unless you are applying to HSSEAS or a college aside from L&S.

...no, they don't.

wouldn't they need to know what major you are in order to give you counseling and to let you enroll in major-restricted classes?

what about college of chemistry?

The chemistry major still falls under L&S here

what about chemical engineering? :O

That's in the engineering school =]

College of Chemistry is Berkeley...

ANY and ALL majors in L&S are the same at application time.

maybe put undeclared?
