Does it matter where I go for under grad

Does it matter where I go to under grad, if I want to get into a good law school? If so how much Does it matter?

Right now I go to NYU, but I really don't like it here. Not because I can't hang with the school, its just that I really thought I would like NYC, but it turns out I didn't. I am thinking about transferring to a small private university in my hometown San Antonio, called St. Mary's U. Does it matter where I go to under grad, if I want to get into a good law school? If so how much Does it matter?

I'm really interested as well. If you did really really well at a lesser known college and scored highly on the LSATs, would you have a good shot at the top law schools?

Technically it doesn't matter if you get a 4.0 and perfect LSAT--except perhaps for HYS.

I know of a lawyer who was attending a top college, decided she didn't want to pay 40K+ a year, transferred to U of Oregon and got a 4.0 there, and ended up gaining admission to (and graduating from) HLS. This is anecdotal evidence, but it seems to be possible.

Good luck with your decision.

Makes no difference where you go to undergrade so long as you post top grades and good scores.

It makes a slight difference if you went to Harvard, Yale, Princeton, or even Stanford for UG, but even for those four, the boost is not incredibly significant.

Students from top schools have higher average LSAT scores

There's an old post on this.

I'm testing my memory, but IIRC Harvard Law has students there from 331 undergrad schools. Analyze from there.
