Does it really help to report your SAT scores early?

My first question: Do any colleges actually consider if you report your SAT score early (like the College Board says they do)? I am really depending on my SAT scores to pull my application up (I have a horrible GPA), but I'm not sure if I did very good.

When is the earliest that you can take the SAT for the next calender school year, October? I am planning to apply early decision at William and Mary. So I guess I would have enough time to send it in (early decision application is due by November 1st), I just want to make sure that I'm not messing up by choosing to report early.

I was curious about this too, I want to go to UT austin and I’m banking on a good SAT score to bring up my horrible GPA…

I took the SAT on May 7th, probably got around 1800-2000, but i need a 2000-2200, so yeah I was wondering if it was better to wait until I take it again and score higher to send my scores in, or just send them in right away. I know they say that the colleges only consider your highest score, but it’s gotta make a difference somehow.
