Okay, everybody I know some of you know me and most do not. As a high school Junior, I just want to say that I’m planning to major in Psychology or Irenology (Peace Studies). I need to know if it will matter if I take SAT II subject test that pertain to Math and Biology since I will need one for History? Or it doesn’t matter what SAT IIs you take as long as you can do well on them? If I don’t take a History test, it will hurt me right?

It does not matter which subject tests you take, as long as you do well on them.

I took Latin and Math I, and I applied as “Undecided.”

You need at least two Subject Tests for Amherst, but you may take more than two if you would like.
Amherst will consider your two highest scores.

I thought they don’t consider an applicant much unless he takes the tests that pertain to his major?..

You thought wrong.

Hahahah. Does Amherst do score choice for the SATs?

" You thought wrong. "

I’m majoring in Psychology so I thought I can’t just take Math and Biology and exclude a subject test for Social Studies because psych deals with BOTH BIO AND HISTORY.

mcvcm92, I can’t answer your question, but you should feel free to either get in touch with a representative at admission@amherst.edu or speak with someone directly at (413) 542-2328. An admissions officer would be happy to respond promptly to your concern.

Seachai86442, you do NOT have to take any SAT II’s in particular. They only thing that is generally recommended is that you don’t take Math 1 and Math 2. Take the tests you think you will score best on.

Pardon me, but when did I said I wasn’t going to take a Math? I have a 93 average in my Math class so that will give me a purpose to take the Math 1 in June.
