Does JV Sports mean anything to admission? Say I am varsity senior year but not official yet?

I have been on the tennis team since freshman year. Much of my school played club tennis prior to high schools but I did not so I have been on JV for 3 years. I will 97% most likely be varsity this year, but we don’t find out our positions until the start of the season: March 1st. Should I just say varsity tennis as a senior on my app? Will my JV tennis mean anything?

I have been playing tennis for a long time recreationally and I love the sport. I couldn’t play tennis on an official team or get lessons until high school since I am very poor and I needed the athletic fee waived to play at my school.

For the Common App, the dropdown activity box is “Athletics: JV/Varsity.” In the description of the activity, it’s fine to say JV - 9-11; Varsity (anticipated (12)). I would not say “varsity” without listing some type of qualifier.

BTW. for admissions, JV vs. varsity means nothing. Sports are a great EC, but unless one is a recruited athlete, the distinction between V/JV/Club to a college will be minor.

Thank you @skieurope !

Schools tend to like the discipline of a sport:

Your time management skills for homework, jobs, clubs, etc. have to coincide with team practices, travel, meets, etc.

If it’s in a consistent sport with satellite play, you should be good with the “anticipated” varsity label.

The fact is even if you have been varsity previously you aren’t guaranteed varsity senor year. So anticipated/planned is appropriate.

Thank you guys, I apreciate the answers  @“aunt bea” @VickiSoCal
