Does Lehigh send out Likely Letters to Regular Decision applicants?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I’ve never heard of a non-athlete getting a likely letter. Try asking your guidance counselor this question, maybe?

i actually got something that was like a likely letter in the middle of march before i was accepted, i think there were some threads about it…cant remember though

just looked it up-seems like they do for potential scholarship recipients!

They send out likely letters, yea. I got one in March like one of the previous posters, and I ended up getting accepted to the A&S Honors Program.

Would you mind telling me your test scores/Gpa? Just to get some idea

My son also was contacted by two Deans and encouraged to atttend. After he accepted he did recieve the Dean’s Schoarship and was put in the Eckardt Scholar program.

@mum…wow thats great. Waiting for RD here. This is a reach for her. Did visit and loved the school. Good Luck everyone!

My son was sent a likely letter. He is not an athlete! Lehigh sent him a letter sometime before regular admissions offering an all expenses trip to Diversity Weekend. I assume he was interviewed during the weekend because a Dean’s Scholarship was included with his acceptance letter.

Would this be considered a likely letter? My S applied RD, and received this yesterday:

Dear ____ :

The Admissions Office here at Lehigh University has shared some of your application material with me, and I am writing to commend you on your excellent preparation for college. We were delighted to hear that you are interested in our College of Business and Economics (“The CBE”). If you have any questions about the CBE undergraduate experience, please do not hesitate to contact me at this e-mail address or stop by our CBE Undergraduate Center in the Rauch Business Center if you visit Lehigh this spring. We are proud of what we have to offer, and our CBE team would be delighted to provide you with additional information. Thanks again for your interest in Lehigh!

Regards,
Dean Katrina Zalatan

Definitely looks like one to me! Tell your son congrats! If you don’t mind me asking, what were his stats?

EdwardWitten, sorry I didn’t check back on this thread.

My stats were: 4.2 weighted gpa (4.0 unweighted), 2100 SAT composite. To me that doesn’t seem out of this world but I guess Lehigh really wanted me!

Is this a diversity thing? I’ve heard that a lot of times likely letters are sent out to people eligible to attend like a diversity weekend

No, it isn’t. I’m a white male from NJ, so I’m a member of the most common group of people at Lehigh.

I was told that Eckardt chooses its members based on HS GPA, AP Scores, and SAT scores. They said that the top 150 applicants each year are invited to be in the program and those invites usually yield ~15-20 people per grade who actually enroll at Lehigh and accept the offer. So if the likely letter I got was based on the Eckardt program, only ~150 people got them.

Similar to Phillipb22, my son is also a white male from the northeast, so definitely not a diversity related letter. His HS stats were 4.2 GPA from a very competitive private school and 2270 SATs. This was in 2010, and he ended up getting Deans Scholarship and Eckardt Scholar honors program.

Leighhopeful - Son’s GPA cum 4.23 weighted, 3.9 unweighted. 4.58 senior year so far. 2000 SAT (730M), 30 ACT (31 if superscored). Will have 5 AP’s upon graduation. Loads of EC’s, 4-year multiple varsity sport letters, Eagle Scout, NHS officer, President Leo Club, multiple leadership awards, community service, p/t jobs. Also outstanding recommendations and a legacy (I went to Lehigh - loved it). White male from large PA public HS. Lehigh’s his top choice, it would be nice to get some money.

Yocco1- his stats sound awesome (: hopefully I’ll be joining him next year! In about a month we find out. Ahh so nervous

I think admission’s idea of diversity is pretty complex. We live far away and assumed our son might be part of geographic diversity since there are just a few kids from our state at Lehigh.

What state are you from? I a hoping be from Montana will help me.

I need your CC expertise please! This isn’t a likely letter, right? Just a hang in there for another 5 weeks email?
