I heard they only waitlist or defer people then eventually let them in once the people who have been accepted decide not to go there.
@squarerootof64 I can’t imagine that they don’t reject people. If the school has specific requirements and someone doesn’t meet them then why wouldn’t they reject them. As for deferring people and waiting until people with acceptances accept or decline that happens at all schools.
Not uncommon for a school to keep a pool of qualified candidates in a waiting pattern until they have a better feel for who is going to enroll and who is not. As people with acceptances inform the school they won’t be attending then that does open up spots for those on the waiting list to be accepted. At some point, there are only so many people who will get into a school that is why its important to have a couple of schools in mind. It’s also important if you have multiple acceptance offers that you notify the ones you won’t be attending so you open up the spot for another student.
