Burma IS damn far away! It's a pretty cool country...used to be peaceful for us foreigners/diplomats. But it's hell for the locals! We have a really repressive army regime that censors everything and goes around arresting dissidents. So people are getting sick and are fighting back. If you go to my xanga site I've written about a series of bomb blasts that we had recently...it was really scary!
What else...well we only got internet 3 years ago, foreign newspapers are banned by the censors and local newspapers are propaganda trash, cable tv is very exclusive and expensive, cellphones are a rarity. Sounds like a pre-historic place doesnt it? Well it kinda is!
I have a very close friend at Middlebury (now a soph)...so that's one of the reasons I applied. I cant wait to meet hime...havent seen him for 1 year. I have to admit that Midd was only my 8th choice school (behind Stanford, harvard, yale, dartmouth, williams...where I got rejected...and Amherst and duke...where I got waitlisted, but removed my name from the waitlist) ...but the more I learn about the college the happier I am about enrolling. The only really worrying thing is the weather...I am used to temps above 35C (100F) and enjoy that kind of weather. Kinda worried that I might turn into a popsicle!

Wooops...you already commented. Well...I left one on your xanga too...check it out.

Oooops...you already left me a comment! heh heh...sorri. Well I left a comment on yours so check it out.
You know what sucks?! All of you live in the same/similar time zones so you're all online at the same time. But I live across the world and I'm only online while all of you are asleep! Darn!

hey, just the other night i was up until four in the morning talking to a girl in jordan. so no worries. if you check, i just may be online. depends on whether i have insomnia or not lol. although, i have to be careful because my host brother from france is kind of a stalker, and he tends to be online late (here, early there). thankfully he joined the french air force so he's a lot busier lately!!! lol.

i have a lot of quilts, feel free to come borrow them. i used to be so used to the cold, but since i moved to new jersey i've slowly lost my tolerance. still, it's a far cry from burma (and i still melt at temps above 75F)

Joined the French Airforce! ***? What do you mean host brother...I dont get it?
Oh and thanks for your offer of the comforters...honestly my biggest fear in Midd is turning into a popsicle! And I revel in temps above 75F...the hotter the better!
So Jess (you still havent said if it's ok I call you that so I just think I will!)...did you sign up for MOO?

I wonder what ever happened to the dude that started this thread...after we monopolized it, he hasn't come back!

i know, seriously. no, i didn't sign up for moo. no use spending extra money just to be covered in mosquito bites. seriously, each bite swells to the size of an egg, and i am NOT into introducing myself to people with tree trunks for legs.

although, if i had, i would have liked canoeing. i love canoeing. :D or rather, i did six years ago when i used to canoe around this lake every summer. heh.

oh, and by host brother i mean (one of) the older brothers in the family i stayed with when i went to france last year.

C'mon...you can still sign up. It'll be fun...even if you do get swarms of mosquitos thirsting for your blood...it can be one of your cultural experiences. Trust me...those make for great stories. Like the time when I ate deep-fried crickets in Burma!

as much as that thought may appeal to me, the deadline has passed. kids already know which group they're in. i'll meet you post-MOO. hehe. and when you guys are all bedraggled, i'll dress up and look cute etc.

that's a stupid priority. however, i imagine i won't be dressing up and looking cute as often in college, so it's important to take every opportunity i get.

Ok...fine...be that way! But you'd better look really cute for abandoning us at MOO...jk!
Btw...have you noticed that we are running neck-to-neck on our # of posts...but you had a 4 month headstart on me so it's not really fair!
