@kamehameha- The adcoms won’t reject you outrightly… But yes they do have quotas for countries…

guys i know the question is kinda stupid, but when do these international olympiads take place? my school teachers think im wasting my time for this and google doesnt give proper results. since you guys are indians can you tell me usually in which month these take place. ill be applying in my senior year i.e. next year.

Its no use giving them is you’re giving them with the intention of using the results for college admissions… In any case they happen after your boards…

im not giving them for my college apps. its just that i cant find any info on them and you guys seem to know a lot.

anyway how could you even think that ill do something so great in them that its worth mentioning in my apps. ill be applying just for the sake of my satisfaction.

and what are these quotas based on ?? what quota do we have ??

No, they do not. There is an overall quota for international students, but no quotas or goals for individual countries.

@akashdip - they are held in July each year, but the selection process (I mean, the process through which each country selects its 4 to 6 students, depending on the olympiad, to represent them) usually starts with a national olympiad and is followed by several examinations for the winners, and this can go as early as two years before the actual event in some countries!

@molliebatmit- That’s reassuring to know there’s no quotas for specific countries!!
