Does my college list fit my needs...do you have any other suggestions?

Academics: Strong business and communications programs. Good connections and internship availability. Great academic advisers.

Student Body: Laid-back and chill. Very friendly. Looking to have a lot of fun. Hot Girls. Filled with school spirit. Smart, but not too intellectual. Actually care about what they are studying.

Atmosphere: Really laid-back and chill. Not full of hippies or radical leftists. Either apolitical or kind of conservative. Strong community feeling.

Location: Either in a fun college town, or in a major city. Close to the beach. Weather in the 60-80s most of the time. Sunny, but I also like rain. Campus has to be really clean. Compact. Nice architecture and a lot of green areas.

Athletics: D1 Sports. Crazy school spirit and rivalries. Great football team. Big in other sports like soccer, basketball, and volleyball. Strong intramural scene. Outdoor activities like surfing, kayaking, and skiing/snowboarding.

Social Life: Crazy party scene. Strong house/dorm party scene, bar/nightclub scene, and a strong greek scene. At all times of the week, I want there to be something going on.

That is what I’m looking for in a college. However, I know it is hard to find schools that meet all of my needs, so I plan on making a few exceptions.

University of Miami

Florida State University

Pepperdine University (Lacking a football team, and most likely not as fun as the other schools).

Loyola Marymount University (Lacking a football, and there isn’t a lot of school pride).

Indiana University Bloomington (I’m not sure about the weather and being hours away from the beach)

San Diego State University (Commuter school atmosphere, and not as good academically).

University of Portland (Lacking a football team, and most likely not as fun as the other schools).

I also like USC and Boston College, but I don’t plan on applying because I’m guaranteed rejection. (GPA-3.7, ACT-24, RANK-Top10%).

But do you think my list is ranked correctly? Do you have any other ideas?

Thank you very much!

Tulane. Any school in the SEC.

I'm assuming you're a CA resident. Why not UCLA or UCSB? They're great schools, good for business, right near the beach, etc. And nothing beats instate tuition...

I really like UCLA and UCSB, but my UC gpa really sucks. Since they don't count freshman year (I got a 4.0), and they cap honor/ap classes at 8 (and I have 12), my UC Gpa is only a 3.45......Therefore combined with my ACT I can't get into UCLA or UCSB.

And plus I don't want to waste my time and take the SAT 2's (for the UC's) just to get 2 rejection letters.

And I'm not a big fan of the South. I mean florida doesn't seem to have the typical "southern" vibe so I fine going there, but pretty much any deep south school is not for me.

Arizona State meets a lot of your criteria...except for the beach.

University of Texas at Austin, it might be a bit of a reach but it fits a lot of your criteria so I would give it a shot.

University of Oregon? You'd give up the beach (visit when you go home) but get lots of outdoor activity. And it does have football.

Christopher Newport could be another safety option. It's right on the beach.

definitely apply to UC Santa Barbara, I think you have a chance and it sounds perfect for what you want in a school.
