Does my low gpa hurt my chances?

Next year I will be a senior and I’m wondering if it is worth it for me to apply to top schools such as the Dartmouth, UC Berkeley, UCLA, Cornell, Rice, Georgetown, NYU Stern, Northwestern, Princeton, Duke, and UChicago.

  • 2400 Sat
  • 36 Act
  • 800s on SAT Subject Tests (Math 2 / Literature / Biology / U.S History / World History)
  • (10) 5s on AP Tests
  • 3.5 overall underweighted GPA (3.28 gpa = Freshman & Sophomore year) (4.0 gpa = Junior year) (5.0 wgpa = Junior Year)
  • Vice-President of JSA Cub
  • Secretary of Investment Club
  • Treasurer of Debate Club
  • Founded Business Club for next year (Senior Year)
  • President of Photography Club
  • Captain of Varsity Soccer Senior Year
  • Elected Vice-President for Senior Year
  • Volunteered 212 hours as a arts counselor for local Arts Council center
  • Volunteered 650 hours working for various congressman
  • Political internship for congressman in D.C
  • Golf for fun in the summer
  • Refereeing soccer games during the school year
  • My main question is that if my low gpa my Freshman and Sophomore year ruin my chances at the top schools. I'm hoping the 4.0 in Junior year (and Senior Year) and my standardized test scores shows I can hold my own academically at these schools. I have gotten three amazing recommendations from teachers and my guidance counselor. Also my school is more academically challenging than most other schools. That has been recognized by college counselors from ivy leagues schools that have visited us to talk in seminars. I think we send about 50 kids to top schools every year.

I think it will only really hurt at princeton, duke, dartmouth and U Chicago. I don’t think it will be that much of a big deal since you apparently got perfect scores on every test you’ve taken (how???).
