Does my major matter in the first year?

So, I was recently accepted to ASU, but upon reviewing my acceptance letter, I may have signed up for the wrong major. While I’m currently attempting to switch into the journalism/communications school, whcih I don’t believe has any extended requirements, will it really matter if I don’t have exactly what I wan’t going in, if I can just as easily switch my major after the first semester or so?

You’ll graduate with a BA in journalism, so that’s all that really matters. There are some people that purposefully start off in one major before switching to journalism. It’s fine. There are also people who graduate with a degree in something other than journalism and that’s fine, too.

Thanks, I was a bit concerned, but I heard that it really shouldn’t matter in my first year, so it’s nice to get a second opinion on the topic.
