My schooling has been bumpy. Basically, I did poorly freshman year, did okay sophomore year but had to drop a course… and junior year (currently) I took 5 APs to compensate. So I have some low letter grades, but have made up for it… giving me a good GPA.
Unweighted GPA does matter. Many schools do like to see an upward trend in grades though so keep working hard.
They also like to see challenging courses being taken so that is good as well.
It all depends on what sort of school you are applying to. However, most schools like the upward trend, especially if it’s accompanied with a story about how you overcame your difficulties.
Transcripts are important to Sent ensure applicants have taken and earned acceptable grades in required classes for admission. Transcript are also required to learn what classes a student has taken and grades earned other than required classes. Transcripts indicate gpa and what is based on. Transcripts are critical for admissions!
There is minimal chance of hiding a gpa. You cannot conceal test scores, if required, and may be comparable to gpa. If you warned poor grades, which teachers will write for you?
Aside from grades posted on transcripts, a pattern of poor effort that will suggest that you are a poor prospect for college academics.
But if you are now taking 5 APs and have better grades in them, that shows colleges that you can do college level work
