I heard from a few classmates that the only way to receive need-based financial aid at US universities is to be a US citizen. Is this true, or will having a green card be enough? I currently am not a US citizen yet, and probably wont be for a few more years due to family circumstance, but I possess a green card and am a legal US resident. Does financial aid go down if you arent a US citizen or is it the same as if you were a green card holder?

US citizens and permanent residents, including green card holders, are treated the same for financial aid purposes.
