Does NB-SAS have classes need for accounting?

Most freshmen take 4-5 classes first semester and 5 classes second semester of freshman year. Your SAS core classes are required to graduate from Rutgers University. There are also the business prerequisites, but you can fit them in your first 3 semesters.

If you are unsure of what you should take, I would call the RBS admissions dept and ask to talk to the freshman advisor.

Ex of a freshman first year schedule for a business student hopeful:

Semester 1
Expos 1
Intro to Microeconomics
Calculus I (135)
General Psychology
Elective (something that fits your minor if you choose to do that or completes your SAS core requirement. Don’t overload yourself as Calc and Expos take up your time)
15 credits

Semester 2
Expos 2
Introduction to Macroeconomics
Comp Apps for Business
Intro Art History
Planet Earth
15 credits

Sophomore
Semester 1
Dinosaurs
Intro Stat for Business
Women Culture and Society
Intro to Financial Acctng
Elective
15 Credits

Most take the same classes 2nd semester sophomore:
(For a declared acctng major)
Intro to Managerial Acctng (for acctng majors section)
Financial Management
Principles of Management
Stat Methods for Business
Intro to Marketing
15 credits

Of course everyone will have a little different schedule because some have AP credits, some want to get credits for a minor, some take Intro Acctng during the summer, etc. You should always refer to Degree Navigator to make sure you are on track to fulfill your needed requirments for any program.

The point is, -most- of your classes freshmen year are spent fulfilling SAS core requirements, even for RBS. If you find that you are short credits in any particular area, you can always take a winter or summer session class. You may take non-business courses at your local community college as well. So you can get some electives or core requirement credits that way. You aren’t doomed to 5 years if you have to transfer in as a sophomore.

Let me repeat: this schedule is not set in stone. Some people will take some of these classes in a different order. As long as your SAS and RBS requirements are met, it should be fine.
