Does no likely letter=probably rejected?

I visited Cornell and it went from like 5th on my list to 1st, so now I really wanna get in. But no one asked to interview me, I didn't get a likely letter, nothing. I didnt put nearly as much time in my Cornell app as i did my others because in the beginning i didnt want to go that much. but now I do, yet they haven't shown me any signs like they have others.

NO, not getting a likely letter means NOTHING. Most people who are accepted don't receive likely letters.

Definitely not (cause then what would be the point of the March 29th reply date?). It seems like the people who are getting likely letters fit only certain criteria (URMs, internationals, recruits, engineering applicants, Tanner Dean Scholars, etc). Even if you were one of these, they only send likely letters to a fraction of applicants, so I'm sure you're fine.

I got a likely letter (international). And if it helps, I didn't get an interview either, so that won't necessarily hurt your prospects!

I love how this is the second thread about whether not getting a likely letter is a bad sign... It's not!

liana: What college did u apply to?

College of Arts and Sciences

The only engineering apps that I know that got likely letters were girls from SWE. And I know that most people didn't get likely letters at all. What would be really bad is if you never get a letter at all.
