Does Northwestern University have a strong history program

I want to go to Cornell but I also want to go to Northwestern I want to major in history but I don’t know which one has a better history program. So which one does?

USNWR graduate program rankings put Cornell at #11 and Northwestern at #14 for history graduate programs. I do not know if there are any undergraduate rankings for history, but graduate rankings should at least give an idea of how accomplished the faculty is.

Graduate rankings are always decent at telling you how the undergraduate program is. I’ve heard nothing but good things about our program. I’m just gonna point out that regardless of how good the programs are relative to one another, they are going to be fairly close. I think that both will be close enough that you should look more into how you feel about the school’s overall. Size, location, campus culture, etc.

Here’s a list of faculty in each department, with info about their interests:

NU is great for history, and I would pick Evanston/Chicago over Ithaca every time.
