Does not taking physics in HS look bad?

I never had CP Chem. This year is the first time I’m taking chem, which is honors Chem. The two social classes, honors psych and sociology, are just electives. I had to take sociology because it’s one of the classes I had to take in order to graduate. In other words, I had to choose one of these classes as a requirement to graduate and I picked sociology.

University of Notre Dame -in certain majors, they require you to have physics in high school. The requirement is more for the stem majors.

Basically, your choices are AP Bio, APES, regular physics, or honors physics.
If you’re CERTAIN you won’t apply for anything STEM-y, AP Bio or APES would work. Since AP Bio fits into your schedule I think it works. IB Physics SL would be a slightly better choice but it wouldn’t make or break your application, so if you really don’t want it, go with the class you find most interesting, or the class with the best teacher.
The C in Math HL/calculus would be a bigger problem so focusing on that would be more important - taking AP Calc BC and getting a B or even an A would matter more in terms of progression.

Thx for advice. I just talked with my Guidance and my GD said that I can take honors physics instead of IB Physics Sl. So thats AP Bio and honors physics. But I have to drop Spanish 4 honors. 3 years of foreign language should be enough right? N for math I’m taking AP Calc AB not BC. I heard that AB Calc was a lot easier than HL math so I should be ok. Idt i can take BC calc or HL 2 cause i need a 93 and above for that I think.

Have you taken any biology already? If so, you may want to consider Spanish 4 + whichever physics you want.

The most selective colleges may prefer to see year 4 or equivalent foreign language for frosh applicants. But, beyond that, many colleges have foreign language graduation requirements. Completing a higher level in high school may let you place higher into college foreign language courses and complete a college foreign language graduation requirement with fewer college courses, leaving more elective space in college.

Also, greater foreign language proficiency may be helpful in some social studies, humanities, and pre-professional (e.g. business and nursing) fields.

HL is more difficult than Calc BC, so yes Calc AB will be much easier even than HL1 (not exactly easier, but slower paced, with more repetition, and no “other math” since HL covers other fields than Calc.)
Considering you don’t want a STEM major, I’d pick Honors Physics (or AP Bio), Spanish 4, and Calc AB (+ HL English and AP or HL History/social science).
Spanish 4 would be especially important since it shows strength in “non stem” areas, which you’d apply for in college admissions.
