I am not a math student. I really do not like it especially because every teacher in the department at my school is horrible. I have completed math up to algebra 2 and currently working on pre calc. the indiana u bloomington school website says that i need 7 semesters of math up to pre calc. i really want to attend indiana but i can not handle another year of math having to teach everyone to myself. i decided to do it online over the summer because i thought it would be a better idea than wanting to kill my self during the school year while dealing with 5 other classes...i was wrong. im struggling so much. i still have to take the final. If i drop it will that effect my admissions chances. im taking a pretty rigorous senior year ap environmental science, ap government, honors physiology, honors world literature, psychology, filmmaking. i dont want to mess up my gpa because of this. math gives me so much anxiety i dont think i can handle any more. advice please?

You should call the school and ask them. I’m in a similar spot - always struggled with math. my 3rd year was also up to AlgebraII/Trig and was debating what to take this year - pre calc or AP stats.

I called the two schools i’m most interested in. I had already developed a decent relationship with the two AO’s from each school. One school told me that they would really like to see pre calc. the other said any math would be ok. So, i’m taking pre calc.

All of my english/history/language courses have been honors or AP. math/science has been “regular”. Obviously, I won’t be majoring in Bio LOL.

You definitely need to consider the risk/reward of taking the course and what it might do to your GPA.

Can you find a tutor to help?

get a tutor. take precalc for one semester which would equal 7 semesters up to and incl a semester of precalc…also call school and explain and ask them…clearly you are not going to major in math (!) so maybe their fine arts or film making majors etc don’t need as much math as say a person majoring in engineering etc…
