DOES nu look at sat writing score?

and consider it?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I sure hope so since it was my best section 800…

Hopefully = D I need that 780 in W to balance out my CR.

they do but they don’t really focus on it.

They do not consider the writing score at all. At least 4 admissions people from NU confirmed this. They consider only the 1600 scale.

Good thing, my 1600 scale is good but I got a 600 on writing. xD

^^ Then why is this nowhere on their site? And why do they have ranges for the Writing? If they TRUELY didn’t look at it at all, then ranges wouldn’t be posted, as is the case with schools that don’t consider it.

they don’t consider it. and no, they don’t post it on their website either. i found out when i went to an information session on campus.

^ ='(

I’ll ask too when I visit over spring break, but if it’s true, then all that luck was for nothing. = p

well that explains it… i got 35 on the ACT main portion but bombed the writing portion… ran out of time lol

All they care about is Math and Reading.
Check out last year’s news release: [Northwestern Freshman Class Has Record SAT Scores, Class Ranking : Northwestern University Newscenter](Northwestern Freshman Class Has Record SAT Scores, Class Ranking: Northwestern University News)
Class rank is important too.

Actually, NU does not care about class rank per se but rather difficulty of course schedule. They also look closely at SAT II scores although they do not require them.

My school doesn’t rank so guess that’s a neutral zone there.

Not ranking isn’t a neutral for all schools. I know the University of California schools use a point system that gives a bonus to those in the top 4%. If your school doesn’t rank, nobody there gets the bonus. I’ve no idea if Northwestern does anything similar.

^ I find it very hard to believe I can be penalized for my school not ranking. I mean if they did I am sure I would be in the top 20 at least, but there is no way to know for sure. What’s wierd is that each seinor class has a 5% dinner, but on every transcript and document there is no rank… meaning they MUST keep rank somehow…
