I am an international student hoping to apply to NYU-Tandon this fall for a CS major. But my overall family income converted to US dollars is about $1500 per annum which makes it impossible for us to pay the cost of attendance but I really wish to study at NYU. Does NYU offer full financial aid to international students?
No.
No, according to US News these colleges give out the most financial aid, so try your luck with these colleges. These colleges are also very hard to get into.

Most of the schools on the above list are need aware for admissions for international students…meaning your level of financial need will be considered when your application for admission is reviewed.
How much aid do you need?
Then you are going to either: change schools, or get a family member to pay $80K USD per year to attend NYU.
NYU doesn’t guarantee to meet full financial need for ANY students.
Also…this is on the NYU website under “International Student Financial Aid”
If you are offered admission and decide to accept the offer, you will be required to submit a certification of finances showing you’ll be able to fund your four years of study. Depending on your status, here are some things to plan for:
- Fill out the NYU Application for Certificate of Eligibility (AFCOE) online after you’re admitted to the university and pay your enrollment deposit. Submit supporting documents as well. This must be done before you’re issued a student visa (Form I-20) or exchange visitor visa (Form DS-2019).
- If you expect to use savings, parental support, outside private or government scholarships, or any combination of these to finance your studies, you’ll need to send official letters or similar certificates as proof of such support. Include your name and date of birth on each document.
- If you’re in the U.S. at the time of your admission, you’ll need to submit a copy of your I-94 card.
- Students who hold a F-1 or J-1 student visa are generally not allowed to work in the U.S. to help pay for their education and are required to pursue a full-time course load each semester.
There are some areas which you can work with a student visa (20 hours maximum a week for a job provided by the campus or take an OPT that only lasts 12 months), but it’s nowhere near enough to meaningfully contribute.
@Dunshire i didn’t write the comment about those Visas. It’s on the NYU website under international student financial aid…and a very good FYI. And as you noted…with a cost of attendance nearly $80,000 a year, that allowable work is a drop in the bucket.
Also, money earned potentially cannot be included in the documentation of money you must provide to NYU to show you can support your studies at their school for all four years.
Good point here, documentation of ability to pay is important for all US colleges.

thanks for your advice!
i’ll be needing a full financial aid but i don’t think NYU ever gives those so i guess i’ll have to look for other options
