This may seem like a stupid question but I am a high ranked golfer in FL and I can def. make the team at NYU. Will this get me in with average stats?

I dont know much about it but I'm wondering the same (although I'm not a golfer). All I know is that NYU is not into sports

Yes: athletic talent will help you in admissions. Contact the coaches if you haven't already done so.

Ya i agree with ABirch because although NYU isn't big in sports, it will still help you out if have contacted the coach and got on the "list"

Ya you should contact the coaches as soon as you can. It can help you and you get to find out your admission status earlier than anyone else as your coaches find out right away and they can e-mail it to you, instead of waiting for snail mail. And there is a list that they place their recruited athletes on. BTW, I'm being recruited for swimming, and the last tidbit about finding out early and the list was from the swim coach.

you wouldn't think so, but nyu gives ALOT of weight to people who excel at sports...i know people with sub 1000 SAT scores who got into gsp merely because of sports.

I got in ED and was recruted for swimming, I think it helped me get in but I still had to wait for my letter to see I had gotten in.

Yep, I know many people who've gotten in only because they were recruited for a sport, they would have had no chance otherwise.

It clearly helps to be good in a sport. While NYU does not give athletic scholarships, the coaches do have influence in admissions.

hey cowfun you got recruited for swimming too? where are you from? whats your events and times?

do you mind if you tell me your stats?
@tobiuo888, these posts are from nearly ten years ago. Even if any of these posters are still hanging around, their stats would be irrelevant to today’s applicants.
