does NYU usually request for first quarter grades or mid year?

Can someone help?

no, and no. hope that answers your question.

are your sure? because I'm really worried that my steep, STEEP drop in grades will keep me out.

all they want is final grades. bad mid term grades won't get you rejected (or even looked at)..but if you do real bad, you could get on academic probabtion or rescinded.

our school policy is send a special school made mid year report to every college every kid applies too, regardless of individual requirements.

so can mid years help if their favorable at nyu?

stonecold, they wont look at them.

Actually, according to NYU:

I was wondering does NYU accept midyear reports. My school sends them to all the colleges that I applied to, and I wanted to know if this is okay.

We do not require mid-year reports. However, if your school sends us the report, we will review during the application process.

So they will look at them if they get them.

mid-year reports SHOULD be a huge factor for admissions at colleges

i mean come on, its the best predictor of how youll do freshmen year of college, more so than some dumb standardized test (although colleges say this is the best indicator)

but unfortunately college admissions is without any logic whatsoever

thanx heat24

stonecold not really...I, like most people, didn't even bother showing up to class half the time during Senior Year.

yup, just final grades so relax. Make sure you have at least a C average by the end of sr. yr though. K?

The NYU application has a page you are supposed to give your guidance counselor to send your mid-year grades. Are you saying to ignore this?

Catherine-no they don't have a mid-year report form. If they do, which page of the application are you referring to? Maybe in the common app but not the NYU app...

On the High School Report/Counselor Recommendation Form seection
NYU's application it specically states (on page 19 of NYU's application) or if you applied using the common application the mid year report is part of the common app.

We would appreciate your candid evaluation of the student named above to aid us in evaulating his or her candidacy for admission to New York University. Please attach this report to the applicant’s current high school transcript. Thank you for your cooperation.

Your GC may be requested to submit a transcript with your 7th semester grades

Right. But mid-years are mandatory, unless they're requested.

I believe what they want are the grades for which the application deadline is (i.e. say the deadline is in December, then they'd want your fall grades, or winter depending how your school splits them up), and if you get accepted, they want a copy of your final.

Well if they say they only want a final report of senior year grades for accepted students, that means that they don't want any senior year grades unless specifically requested.

Yes... but if the deadline (just an example) is in october, and final grades for senior year don't come out until June.... then you need to submit what you have for the application to be complete, then they later ask you for finals.

That's theoretical, but speaking in practice...NYU doesn't require 7th semester grades for evaluation.

yeah. NYU never requires them regardless of ED or RD.

I don't know what is so difficult about this to understand. When you apply, either E.D. or R.D., your guidance counsellor is required to send a current transcript of your grades. If you've received any senior year report cards by that date, they will be indicated on the transcript. After that time, you will not be required to submit any further transcripts until the end of the year when your school will need to forward a final transcript. No mid-year reports are necessary or desired by NYU.
