For Ivy League schools, how important are they? How much do they help if u do well? How much does it hurt if u do poorly?

For Ivy League schools, how important are they? How much do they help if u do well? How much does it hurt if u do poorly?

When is the general time period that people take them (what grade)?

The former, yes. The latter, no.

People take them generally during their junior years.

All ives readily accept either the SAT or ACT. Yale, Brown, and Penn, which usually require two SAT IIs, accept the ACT in lieu of both the SAT and SAT II so for those you can submit just the ACT. For the others you need to submit SAT IIs regardless of whether you submit the SAT or ACT. Harvard and Princeton require three SAT IIs and the other ivies two. You should consider them important. As to doing well or poorly just understand that vast majority who apply to ivies have good scores so you can assume those with bad scores have greatly reduced chances of admission.

Take them anytime you are ready. If you take AP World History as a Frosh, for example, take the WH subject test in June of your Frosh year. As drusba notes, just assume that the vast majority of unhooked acceptees will have Subject Test scores over 700, many over 750.
