does one need to take MCAT even in 6/7 year medicine programs

Some institutes like UDMNJ, VCU offer 7 year programs in medicine. If some one is admitted into these programs, do they still have to MCAT at some point of time?

Depends on the program. Some programs don’t require the MCAT, while others do.

If you do have to take it’s just to see if you can make a minimum score set by the program.

OP,

Although UMDNJ does not specify a minimum required score for MCATs on their website (at least they didn’t last time I checked), they still expect that you will do your very best in MCATs.

My DS informed me in his sophomore year that he had seen an email sent by UMDNJ faculty urging the SMEDS to do their very best in MCATs. Dr Shevlin (the Program advisor at TCNJ) also offers a preparatory course which runs during Fall and Spring semesters.

So, the answer is Yes.

There are programs, though, that do not reguire MCAT at all. They might still reguire minimum GPA to stay in a program.
