<p>In my school you get the same amount of credits for an elective, as you would for English or Math. So when calculating my GPA, would Math and an elective be equal?</p>
<p>In our school in NY, PE does not count towards GPA, but electives do. Colleges of course see what grades are for what courses, so I believe many of them recalculate.</p>
<p>That may be partly why there is no definitive GPA guideline. A kid might see someone else’s stats and think they have a higher or lower GPA, but it’s impossible to know what goes into that GPA without all the info. </p>
<p>The colleges have a lot more info in front of them, which is why we shouldn’t second guess other people’s chances or why colleges select who they do.</p>
