Does partying like THIS ever happen here?

Party pictures from the social elite of UPenn:

http://www.DankPictures.com

Come on....no princetonians have any idea what the partying is like??

That looks like a pretty pimpin' party scene man.

The pictures from the Frat Party scene look pretty similar to the Eating Club parties that we have twice a week if that helps you any.

Well, basically, I'm asking: are the parties more like, say, a state university where it's a bunch of abercrombie-wearing frat boys chugging down cheap keg bear, or is more like a bunch of rich Polo- and Hermes-wearing socialities parading around with whiskeys. Or a balance of the two?

at the end of the day what is the difference these days between abercrombie and polo other than the horse v. the moose.

unless you are a semiformal/formal people don't wear ties (and frats have those too).

interestingly enough it is the frats and sports teams at Princeton that like the whiskey and the eating clubs that focus on the cheap beer.

you have to realize that the party scene at princeton (or just about any other ivy league school) will never approach that of a state school. princeton kids party hard, very hard. but the wild nights at princeton on the whole only reflect average nights at a state school. yes, TI parties and some other clubs parties on occassion do represent that of a frat party, but it still is never the same as a state school. when you go to a ivy league school you go with the understanding that you have a different social life than 90% of the college students in this country

college kids are college kids. they all, by and large, wear the same clothes, talk the same, and party in the same way. e.g., i think you'll find the same proportion of northface-fleece-wearers at princeton as you would at penn state.

i agree with f.scottie.
but i would say that there are some ridiculously preppy outfits that you see more often at princeton than just about anywhere else.

yes, the canary-yellow pant quotient (CYPQ) may be higher.

Its definitely more of "abercrombie-wearing frat boys chugging down cheap keg bear" than anything else. I have never even seen "socialities parading around with whiskeys" or anything of that sort. I believe that sort of behavior is reserved for the alumni clubs.

you will find that it is often the abercrombie-wearing frat boys chugging down cheap keg beer who are also the socialites parading around with the whiskeys...it all depends on the party they are at

Princeton was less preppy than I had expected...that may just be because my high school was extremely preppy. I found princeton pretty casual...lots of sweatshirts and shorts.

of course princeton has people who dress normally (sweathsirts shorts etc...) but there are occasions when people dress obscenely preppy (Lawnparties, Tailgates) and some people that dress almost laughably preppy all the time.

So like people dont dance at the parties? haha they just stand around and drink cheap beer?

i wonder where all the black people are partying at because those look pretty lame

It would suck if all princeton parties were just people standing around, drinking beer, and listening to rock music

but w/e

Yea I like dance parties and I hate beer...hmm

so we're leaving out the vodka-drinkers, eh?

i hate being discriminated against...

Eww vodka smells like rubbing alcohol (and I would assume tastes like it...assuming because I've never tasted rubbing alcohol, not becuase I've never had vodka :p) I prefer rum, and more recently white tequila.

well regardless of what you drink. the only thing you are going to get from eating clubs is beer (beast) and the occasional Cider. frat parties (while they last [until late Sept.] will have everclear-fruit punch mixtures in addition to beer. if you want vodka, rum etc. etc. you have to get it yourself

Frat parties don't last past late september?

the whole purpose of frat parties at princeton is to get freshmen guys to join the frats. Once pledging starts (mid oct.) there are no more frat parties that are public. After that frats have semiformals and formals for the brothers/pledges and have occasional private parties with the sororities, but nothing like what happens in september.
