Does Penn usually request 1st quarter grades if I apply ED?

If I apply ED do you think Penn will request my 1st quarter grades? Do they usually do this or is it only for people on the border?

The ED deadline is Nov 1 and my 1st qurter ends October 31, so i know my first qurter grades wont be on my transcript.

Same question.

Keep you grades up, they'll ask if you get accepted.

but do they have a record of requesting 1st quarter grades? i mean im not failing its just that my grades are a bit lower (still A-ish range tho) however my junior year grades were near perfect (97% avg)

I don't recall them asking for Semester grades. If you get accepted/deferred, you will need to send them in.

so basically my senior grades dont matter for getting accepted ED?? sweeeet

Nah, but careful if you're pulling C's and D's for semester grades.

dont worry im only getting a-'s which for me is kinda low but not enough to get me recinded...if i can manage to get in

has anyone been asked to send in their first quarter grades ed? otherwise if they are good should we go out of our way to send the? also ive heard of schools calling guidance counselors rather than asking students or is this just a rumor?

they will call your GC if they want to see your grades

i never had to send mine in.

then again, mine weren't stellar anyway. if you have very good first quarter grades then definitely send them in on your own.

i hope they don task for em..
my grades this quarter are down the drain. =x

Sorry to resurrect this thread but i had a question

is it a good or a bad thing if the admissions office calls your counselor to ask for you grades so far in senior year??
someone told me their counselor told them that admission had requested to see their grades. what does this mean?

I know Penn doesn’t require you to send them for Ed, but if you CHOSE to send your first quarter grades, will they consider them during the admission process?

some high schools send them. my high school sends everyone’s first quarter grades to their ED schools. penn WILL consider them if sent.

On a similar note. My school uses a trimester calendar instead of a semester calendar. Therefore, the 1st tri will be over and 1st tri grades will be finalized before we hear back from Penn (ED). We have already been told that they send these grades to all the colleges that we have applied to, but the grades probably won’t be sent out until around the 4th and so if you factor in all the time sorting through materials it doesn’t seem likely that Penn will have all the grades early enough to consider them while looking through the apps. I am asking giving this information because I have not done as well as I would have liked in this first trimester and I wanted to know what other people though about how they will use the tri grades. Hopefully they’re not too important! I would hate for 1 tri to ruin the last 3 years of hard work.

My midterm ended after the ED deadline and my school still included my grades. My school sends everyone’s first semester midterm grades… which I’m happy about because I’m having a good semester. :)

Do you think they take into consideration that typically they see year grades and this time only the first marking period is shown? I ask this because people tend to have different patterns with grades progression throughout the year.
