Does Pharmacy School require a foreign language?

I’ve been told that it doesn’t so it’s not necessary to continue taking it. I could switch out of spanish for bio because I know that bio is important in pharmacology. Should I take bio instead because spanish isn’t required for pharmacology and I have already taken 4+ years of spanish.

You need to go online and check the requirements for each school. They vary. In general if you have 4 years of HS Spanish you should be fine for pretty much any school.

How many years of Spanish have you taken in high school? Any requirements for foreign language for a pharmacy school would be covered in undergrad years. Typically, foreign language is NOT a prerequisite but it never hurts to carry out a second language, especially given the prevalence of Spanish in today’s society. It would always be helpful to be able to converse in Spanish with clients/patients.

I think taking bio is important though, so go with bio.

I’ve taken 3 years of spanish in high school and senior year would be my fourth year if I take it. My third year was College Spanish. I think I should take bio too but I don’t know if I can handle it with AP Chemistry and AP Calculus BC. I also have to worry about college apps, SAT, and ACT.

Have you not taken biology already? If so, go with bio and ditch Spanish.

I’ve taken Living Environment and Anatomy & Physiology but not bio

Take biology for sure. 3 years of a foreign language is fine.

Okay thank you very much

If you intend to be a pharmacist in an area with many limited-English people, knowledge of a language commonly spoken by such people may be helpful from a customer service perspective.
