There are some people on CC that say each waitlisted person should give the admissions office a phone call about how much they love this school, what they're chances are of getting off the waitlist, saying "LET ME IN!!", etc., but the same number of people say, "Don't bother them. Another phone call is the last thing they need." I gave Deerfield a call about my chances and the person had a hint of impatience and wanting me to get off the phone. I know you have to do something to show that you're passionate about a school but is a phone call to their admissions office the right way to do it?

A letter to your interviewer is better. Also, it’s too early too contact schools about chances of coming off the list when they don’t even know who is accepting admission yet.

Send the letter and then wait until after April 10th then call your interviewer and ask when they will notify you regarding your wait list status. Do not ask chances, but ask how many are on the list for your grade and gender. An indirect way of determining your chances is to ask if they have FA still available.

In the course of applying with two children who were both waitlisted to various schools - often mentioned here - We were told by several (in fact one has it specifically posted on their web site) to write a letter explaining why the school is your first choice, etc. We were also told by two schools to call every couple of weeks to check in.
