Does Pomona College require CSS/FAFSA for Merit Aid?

I know for certain that we will not qualify for Needs-Based aid, so was not sure if we should even fill out CSS/FAFSA.

But, I am told some schools require those forms in order to consider giving MERIT aid. But I heard it varies school to school.

Does anyone know if Pomona requires CSS/FAFSA in order to be considered for merit aid?

Thank you!

It says here that their scholarships are need based.

So I am sure a CSS is necessary. But also, if you won’t qualify for need based aid, I’m guessing you won’t qualify for a need based scholarship.

Agree with the above.

For your other schools check each website to see what type of financial aid they offer (merit and/or need based), and if FAFSA/CSS Profile are required for merit aid (there aren’t many schools that do).

Yep, Pomona gives no merit aid, so the question of what they require is moot.

In comparing schools, the Common Data Set information is useful. For example, here is Pomona’s most recent report: Box Section H2A gives information on non-need-based scholarships and grants. You can see that there is virtually none at Pomona (I don’t know what the single $5K scholarship is about, but it wasn’t for an entering student); the same data is available for other schools, to assess how much merit aid is available.
