both scores have a composite of 29. if I am going to send only one to Pomona, I want to send October's. so do they take the best scores from all tests taken? thanks

APRIL
eng - 28
math - 32
rdg - 21
sci - 33
eng+writing - 26(8/12 essay)

OCTOBER

rdg - 30 (+9)
sci - 26 (-7)
eng+writing - 24 (6/12 essay) (-2)

I think WashU is the only school which superscores the ACT

I don't think Pomona superscores, but (if it's not a financial burden) I would send both, just in case. Good luck! :)

My son had the same experience-- radically different results, composite minimal change up to 29. I plan to submit both. Schools are increasing recognizing how incredibly stupid these tests must be if the results vary so much. (I thought it might be the test, but his results inverse of yours, so no!)

Fact is, 29 will probably get both of you rejected on the first sweep. IF other factors get you to a serious review, the details of both ACTs will be valuable. I’m debating whether to let him apply to Pomona at all. He is weakest in writing, and something like 25% of freshman have perfect writing SATs and I know they require profuse writing in all classes. I’m afraid that he would be miserable.

oops, just saw the date, so did you get in? I see Cal? good work there!

First sweep? Pomona is supposed to be holistic though, right?
