The title kinda says it all, Ive heard rumors about Princeton and Stanford, could anybody comment, the Staford website does say they focus heavily on 10, 11, and 12. Princeton does not say anything of that matter. Also does Harvard get rid of -'s?

I’m not sure of what difference it makes - either they do or they don’t, they treat everyone the same, and there’s nothing you can do about it. When there’s nothing you can do about it, you don’t worry about it and just send your application in.

Well @MrMom62 if they do, I would consider applying, as my 10/11/12 gpa would be 4.5w, but my overall gpa is a 3.9w. I feel my EC’s/Rigor/Recs etc are within range for a top school, the gpa is the only serious limiting factor. I just wanted to know more about this.

Even if they count freshman grades, there’s always the “upwards trend” angle. Give it a shot.

What is your unweighted?

3.5ish rn (w/o senior)

but w/o freshman and with senior its a 3.98 uw.

bump

bump

bump

GPA accounts for only a part of your application as a whole. Course difficulty and load, class rank and test scores also account for academic components of the application. I remember a while ago hearing the rumor that Princeton calculates GPA without freshman grades but I could not find anything online to substantiate that claim. So for the moment it remains a rumor.

If you are really interested in going to Princeton I’d apply and see what happens. Even if your application were “perfect” it still wouldn’t guarantee you admission.

Also as a gentle aside…people on CC are generally here to be helpful and most of the “regulars” are willing to try to offer good input where they have it. It’s probably not helpful to bump your post 3 times in 16 minutes to get an answer. More than likely it means that we were out doing something else on a Friday evening. If there is more to be said, someone will respond. =)

things do get rather speculative as the season moves forward. True, it isn’t necessarily helpful; just humane. If Freshman grades were to be ignored, the equation alters for many. Just good to know. Not a game changer.
