Enhance performance? Like have you ever procrastinated to a point where you crammed a paper in but still managed to do well versus starting early and not doing as well? For instance, I procrastinate with almost everything but I still manage to get A's on my papers but I haven't really started anything early to compare my performance levels.

Got a pretty good grade for my procrasination? Heck yes. Have I ever started something early? Yes -but I always manage to start it TOO early -.- and procrastinate in the middle, than rush up and finish in the end -with a pretty okay grade. (usually an A-)

If you've never started something early, don't sweat about it. I'm sure college will change you (and me as well). I mean, I keep seeing the 'time management' skill again and again when I hear people post about college life haha.

I pretty sure this is called "positive stress" and procrastination builds plenty of it.

Happens all the time. Procrastination has just become a part of my work ethic, though there have been few consequences grade-wise. There have been some close calls with mix-ups and weird things happening at the last minute, but somehow it all works out in the end.

Of course it does. I work much more efficiently when I'm under tight time constraints. I sometimes procrastinate on purpose to prevent myself from wasting too much time on assignemts (kinda an oxymoron eh?). Like, I'll be sitting around at 7 at night, no homework left to do except an English paper, and I'll just decide to do it at lunch the next day b/c I will be forced to do it in 45 minutes or less. If i do it at home, I'll keep working on it for maybe 2 or 3 hours until it's perfect (somewhat a waste of time IMO).

I have too many procrastination stories to even be entertained by them. It's gotten to the point where it's not even a fun novelty any more, it's just a compulsion to avoid work that I blame for my failing physical and mental health (those all-nighters add up fast when you do 2+ a week).

I used to scorn people who were forced to develop work ethics, thinking they just weren't smart enough to be like me. Now I envy them.

so, any remedies to fix us procrastinating addicts? lol cause i know i cant keep this up, especially in college

for my essays, yes

This year I stopped procrastinating on papers and found that my writing has suffered as a result.

Oh well. As long as I get A's?

I've been relying on procastination tactics since second semester freshmen year. The problem is...the more times I do it the less nervous I become and thus the worse job I do. Now I feel kinda burnt out as a second semester junior. I mean...I have a test tomorrow and I'm on here. Ok, now to go study...

Ahah not for me.
Unlike most people here, I procrastinate until the very, VERY last minute- not the night before it's due, but to the very last day a teacher will take something late. So of course they get marked down a whole bunch. Kind of ruins the GPA.....
haha

well, my brother won a science-fair doing a project two hours before school...

i have a weird thing like that- I write a LOT better when I'm absolutely exhausted. I just wrote 2 perfect essays in 30 mins at 2 am last night. Whereas I can put 10+ fully awake hours and it will be CRAP. here's to being utterly exhausted during college applications

It totally does. I do my best work under pressure. I don't know why teachers give you such a long time to do work, when kids will just do it the night before it is due.

Of course, if you are known to be a good student you can turn in absolute crap and your teacher will think it is amazing.

wow, the story of my life...

^mine too!

I finished my senior project with 6 minutes to spare before I presented it in front of 60 people. (SP is required for graduation lol)

Yeah, this is how it works for me, it's almost depressing. I got the only A in my class on a psych test that I started studying for the day before. I usually write my english essays in give or take an hour, and get A's anyway, sort of takes the challenge out of school, but I guess it's better than being stressed.

I do work well and quickly under pressure (and I need to- I'm an inveterate procrastinator), but it pains me a bit to put off an essay. My writing isn't bad when I do it very quickly, but it lacks polish, and I know damn well that if I really put the time into writing something, I can make it awesome. I like writing and want to do it well, so I try to leave myself enough time to do a good job on writing assignments...but that doesn't always work...

I procrastinate a lot but I've always done good on essays and projects, so it's not bad for me, though I hate doing it. Certain things I won't procrastinate for, though, like the project I'm doing now for global class, which requires a lot of effort.

Writing assignments I can usually do at the last minute with no problem. Math and Science are different-if I procrastinate I panic because those two are hard for me.

Right now I'm in the first draft of a paper worth 40% of my English grade. Due tomorrow.

I wrote my term paper in 9th grade in 45 minutes the morning it was due and got an A-. Did the same thing this year and got an A/A-.

I do work well under pressure, though. And at 4 AM.
