Does prospective major effect admmissions?

Does prospective major effect admmissions at Brown?

bump up this post

Bumpppppppppppppppppppppp

affect, admissions, concentration*

But you managed prospective, which is funny. Anyway, enough being an annoying brat... Prospective concentration has a small effect in that some interests are overrepresented at Brown, and they would be excited to see someone with a unique interest. What's most important, though, is that your interest in the subject is genuine. No one at Brown will know what you put on your application as your intended concentration if you end up matriculating (except for statistical purposes), so don't worry about it affecting you later on.

So if I present myself (through ECs, scores and essays) like someone who wants to do a major in X or Z and say that X and Z are not that famous at Brown...does it improve my chances?

I think B.Sc majors have a small advantage just because they have one extra essay.. and engineers have 3 extra essays and although it is more work, its another opportunity to show passion or personality.

yeah, but it's also harder because if you apply to the science/engineering concentrations, you are competing against those with the top numerical stats. (on AVERAGE)
